Your AI can build and price an estimate on a project, and edit it while it is a Draft, in review, or sent back for revision. Publishing, sending, approving and invoicing stay in Projul.
How an estimate is put together
A project holds one estimate: a head document (the original) plus any change orders under it. Each version has its own status, date, expiry, tax rate, discounts and sections. A section holds line items and can hold subsections. Each line item is labor, material or other, priced from quantity, cost and markup. Projul calculates every subtotal and total.
Creating an estimate
Your AI creates the estimate on a project or lead, either empty, from one of your estimate templates, or straight from your description of the job. It gets a Draft status and, when your account numbers estimates automatically, the next number. Account defaults such as your template, tax rate, expiry period, and introduction and contract text are not applied automatically, so name them or add them in Projul afterwards. Sections and line items
Your AI adds, renames, reorders and removes sections and line items, copies in section templates and cost-item library entries, and sets what the client sees: whether a section's prices and quantities show, whether a line is visible, and whether photos on a line show. It can also set up subsections, selections the client chooses between, assemblies shown with a quantity and unit, and display-only sections. Prices, tax and discounts
Prices come from quantity, cost and markup, worked out by Projul. Tax is one rate for the whole estimate, or per line if your account is set up that way, chosen from the rates in your Projul settings. Discounts are the ones you have defined in Projul, applied by name. See How does my AI calculate prices, markup and tax?.
Introduction and contract text
Your AI can also write the introduction that prints above the pricing and the contract details that print below it, and put both on the estimate. See How do I have my AI write the introduction and contract text?.
Change orders and versions
A change order is a version added under the estimate. Your AI can add one at any time, including after the client has approved the original, and price added, changed or removed work on it. See How do I have my AI add a change order?.
What happens after Draft
Your AI edits a version while it is a Draft, waiting for review, or sent back for revision. Once you publish it, send it, or the client approves it, your AI can still read it and add messages, but the numbers lock, the same as in the app. Publishing, sending, approving, rejecting, invoicing and payments are all done in Projul.
