Describe the job and your AI builds the estimate in Projul: it creates the estimate on the project, adds sections for each part of the work, and fills in line items with quantities, your costs, and markup. The estimate lands in "Estimates" as a Draft with every total calculated, ready for you to review and send.
What to tell your AI
The project or lead must already exist in Projul, or ask your AI to create it in the same request. See How do I have my AI add a new lead? A project holds one estimate, so if it already has one, your AI offers to change it or add a change order instead.
You do not need an estimate template. Where you have saved sections or priced lines in your cost-item library, under "Go to cost templates" on the "Estimates" page, your AI uses those first. Otherwise, give it quantities and prices, or let it propose them and correct what you disagree with. See How do I build and reuse estimate section and line item templates with my AI?
Build an estimate in Projul for [Thompson Deck Rebuild]. Three sections: demolition and disposal, framing and decking, railings and finish. Tear-out is [16] hours of labor at [$45]/hr with [40]% markup and a [20-yard dumpster at $450] plus [15]%. Framing lumber is about [$1,850] plus [25]%, composite decking [320 sq ft at $6.75] plus [25]%, and [48] hours of install labor at [$55] plus [40]%. Railing is [42 lin ft at $38] plus [25]% and [12] hours to install at [$55] plus [40]%. Apply our [Utah] sales tax.
How it builds the estimate
Your AI creates the estimate, then adds each section with its line items in one pass. Projul assigns the next estimate number automatically, unless your account enters numbers by hand, in which case tell your AI which number to use. For each line it sets the type, labor, material, or other, the quantity and unit, your cost, the markup, and the cost category, so it shows up correctly in job costing.
Your AI asks you to approve each step, then reports the estimate number and projected total. In Projul, click "Estimates" to see the new Draft at the top of the list, with each section's subtotal on the card.
Adjusting it afterward
While the estimate is a Draft, keep talking to your AI or edit it directly in Projul; either way changes the same Draft.
On the [Thompson Deck Rebuild] estimate in Projul, move the [20-yard dumpster] line into a new [Permits and fees] section, and hide the prices on the individual lines in [Demolition and disposal].
Note: Tax is applied only when you name a rate from your Projul settings. Without one, the estimate is created with no tax, and you can add it later in Projul or by asking your AI.
Note: Publishing and sending the estimate happen in Projul, not through your AI. See Can my AI publish or send an estimate?
