Your AI creates an estimate in Projul by copying one of your saved estimate templates onto a job. The new estimate lands in "Estimates" as a Draft for you to review.
Creating the estimate
Your AI needs a Read-Write key, and you need a saved template. Build one from any estimate: open it, click the three dots in the top right corner, then "New Estimate template". No template for the job? See How do I have my AI build an estimate from scratch?.
- Tell your AI which template, which client, and which job. Name a sales tax rate too, if one applies.
- Your AI creates the estimate, then reports the total and the estimate number, if your account numbers estimates automatically.
- Open "Estimates" in Projul to look it over, or ask your AI to change anything.
- When it is right, publish and send it from Projul.
Note: A project can hold only one estimate. If the job already has one, ask your AI to edit the existing Draft instead. Once the client approves, further changes go on a change order. See How do I have my AI add a change order?.
What to say to your AI
Copy either prompt below and change the bracketed parts, or just ask your AI what templates you have.
Create an estimate for [Larry Adams] on his [Adams New House Build] project using my [New House Build] template. Apply our [Utah] sales tax. Tell me the estimate number and the total when it is done.
If the job does not exist yet, ask for both at once:
Add a new project called [Thompson Deck Rebuild] for [Dale Thompson], then create an estimate for it from my [Deck Construction] template.
What you will see
The estimate appears at the top of "Estimates" as a Draft, numbered automatically or left blank if you number by hand. Every section and line item from the template is copied in, and Projul calculates the totals.
Tax, editing and sending
Prices come from the template. Tax applies only when you name a rate; it is never carried over from the template or your account's default. If tax is priced per line rather than on the whole estimate, your AI sets the rate on the taxable lines instead. Add tax afterward in Projul, or ask your AI to. Your AI creates the estimate as a Draft only; reviewing, publishing, sending, and recording approval happen in Projul, by you. See Can my AI publish or send an estimate?.
