Tell your AI what changed on the job and it adds a change order to the estimate in Projul, with its own sections and line items, priced the same way as the original. The change order lands under the estimate in "Estimates" as a Draft, exactly as if you had clicked "+ ADD A CHANGE ORDER", and you publish and send it from Projul.
A change order prices work that was added, changed, or removed after the client approved the estimate. Your AI can add one whether or not the original estimate is approved, and it never touches the approved document itself.
What to say to your AI
Describe the added work and your AI builds the section and line items:
Add a change order to the [Thompson Deck Rebuild] estimate in Projul called [Privacy screen]. One section, [Privacy screen], with [24 lin ft of cedar screen at $32] plus [25]% and [8] hours of labor at [$55] plus [40]%. Apply our [Utah] tax.
For changed work, say what to remove and what replaces it:
Add a change order on [Thompson Deck Rebuild] in Projul for upgrading the railing. Remove the [aluminum railing kit] line and add [42 lin ft of cable railing at $68] plus [25]%.
For a plain credit with no scope behind it, just say the amount and the reason, for example crediting the client $450 because the dumpster was not needed.
Removing work from the job
When part of the approved scope is dropped, the change order needs to take that money off. Your AI does this the way Projul does: it adds the removed work as a display-only section, which Projul counts as a negative amount on the change order.
What you will see
Your AI asks you to approve the action, then confirms the change order and its total. In Projul, open the estimate under "Estimates" and the change order is listed below it with its own number, status "Draft", and total.
Click "Publish change order" to make it viewable to the client, then "Send change order" to email it, or "Approve without signature" if the client approved another way.
Things to know
Note: Your AI can only add a change order to an estimate that already exists. A project holds one estimate, and change orders belong to it.
Note: Once a change order is published, sent, or approved, your AI can read it and add a note to the estimate, but it can no longer change the numbers. Further changes go on another change order.
