Describe the changeout section by section, equipment, line set, duct, labor, permits, and your AI builds the estimate on that project in Projul. It lands in "Estimates" as a Draft, totals calculated, ready to review and send.
What to say to your AI
Name each section, then for every line the quantity, unit, cost and markup.
Build an estimate in Projul for [Harmon 4-Ton Heat Pump Changeout]. Sections: equipment, refrigerant lines and electrical, installation labor, and permits and startup. Equipment: [4-ton 15.2 SEER2 heat pump condenser, 1 each at $2,480] plus [35]%, [matching air handler with 10 kW strip heat, 1 each at $1,640] plus [35]%. Installation labor: [16] hours at [$58] plus [45]%. Permits: [mechanical permit, 1 each at $145] with no markup. Apply our [Utah] sales tax.
With a template, or priced section templates like an attic air handler set, your AI copies and adjusts them instead. Markup can be a percent or a flat amount; tax applies only when you name a rate from your Projul settings. See How does my AI calculate prices, markup and tax?.
The job needs a project or lead in Projul; your AI can add the client too. See How do I have my AI handle HVAC leads and follow-ups?. A project holds one estimate, so an existing one gets edited or a change order added.
Tiers, accessories and change orders
Efficiency tier can be a selection, only the picked tier counting toward the total; accessories work as an optional section, counting only what the client adds. See How do I use subsections, selections and display-only sections with my AI?.
Field surprises become a change order as its own Draft under the estimate; removed scope goes on as a display-only deduction. Once approved, your AI can read and add notes but not edit it. See How do I have my AI add a change order?.
What you will see
Your AI checks each step with you, then reports the estimate number and total. In Projul, click "Estimates": the new estimate sits at the top as a Draft, section subtotals on the card, still editable by you or your AI.
Things to know
Note: Your AI creates the estimate as a Draft on purpose; publishing it, sending it and recording approval are done in Projul. See Can my AI publish or send an estimate?. A line stores only labor, material or other; category and trade come from your tags and trades.
