Your AI can write a message on a project, a client, a task, or an estimate. Messages are for your team; nothing your AI writes here is sent to the client.
Where a message can go
A message attaches to exactly one thing. A message on a client is about the person, wherever their jobs are. A message on a task is what the crew sees on that task. A message on an estimate stays with the estimate and its change orders, and can be added even after the estimate is approved, since a message is commentary rather than a change to the document.
What to say to your AI
Add a message to the [Tear out existing deck] task in Projul: [dumpster is being dropped at 7, park the trailer on the street].
To read messages back, ask something like "What messages are on [Sam Rivera] in Projul?" A project's messages also include the messages between you and the client, which your AI can read but not send. See Can my AI message a client directly?.
Attaching a file to a message
A message can carry files that are already in Projul. To get a file into Projul first, see How do I have my AI upload a job-site photo or document?. To attach an existing file, see How do I attach files to a task or an estimate with my AI?.
Note: Files attach at the moment the message is written, so ask for the message and the attachment in one request.
What you will see
Your AI asks you to approve the action, then the message appears under the name of the person whose account the API key belongs to.
In Projul, open the project's three-dot menu and click "Open Messages"; the panel's icon rail lists the channels, including "Client" and each task, which also opens from the task card's three-dot menu under "Open messages".
Note: A message on an estimate is stored on the estimate and your AI can read it back, but the Projul app does not show a message channel for an estimate. To put a message where your team will see it, put it on the project, the client, or the task.
