Read your measure sheet to your AI and it builds the fence estimate in Projul: sections for tear-out, posts, fence and gates, priced from footage, cost and markup. It lands in "Estimates" as a Draft with the totals calculated.
Reading a measure sheet to your AI
Tell your AI the footage, gate count, post spacing, tear-out, and your rates. The job needs a project in Projul; if not, ask your AI to create the lead in the same request, per How do I have my AI handle fencing leads and follow-ups?
Build an estimate in Projul for [Hollis Privacy Fence]. It is [214] lin ft of [6 ft cedar dog-ear privacy fence] with [8 ft] post spacing, plus one [4 ft walk gate] and one [10 ft double drive gate]. Four sections. Tear-out and haul-off: remove [90] lin ft of old chain link, [6] hours of labor at [$45] with [40]% markup, and disposal at [$275] with [15]% markup. Layout and posts: [28] cedar [4x4x8] posts at [$22] each with [25]% markup, [56] bags of concrete at [$6.25] each with [25]% markup, and [12] hours of dig and set labor at [$48] with [40]% markup. Fence build: [81] [2x4x8] rails at [$8.40] each with [25]% markup, [428] cedar pickets at [$4.10] each with [25]% markup, fasteners and hardware at [$180] with [25]% markup, and [24] hours of build labor at [$48] with [40]% markup. Gates and hardware: one [4 ft walk gate kit] at [$310] with [25]% markup, one [10 ft double drive gate with drop rod] at [$890] with [25]% markup, and [6] hours of gate labor at [$52] with [40]% markup. Apply our [Utah] sales tax and tell me the estimate number and the total.
Your AI creates the estimate, then adds each section and line item with quantity, unit, cost and markup. It reports the estimate number and total; the Draft sits at the top of "Estimates".
Gate styles and other client choices
Picket style, gate hardware, a stain package, post caps go in as a selections section, where the client picks one, one or none, or any number, and the total counts only what's chosen, per How do I use subsections, selections and display-only sections with my AI?
Markup, tax, templates and change orders
Markup is a percent or a flat amount per unit, set per line. Tax applies only when you name a rate already set up in Projul; without one, the estimate is untaxed, per How does my AI calculate prices, markup and tax?
Build the same fence often? Copy a saved template and adjust the footage, or reuse a section or cost rows as library entries, per How do I have my AI create an estimate from one of my templates? and How do I build and reuse estimate, section and line-item templates with my AI?
Rock in the post holes, added footage, a dropped run: your AI adds each as a change order, leaving the approved document alone. Removed scope becomes a display-only section, a deduction, per How do I have my AI add a change order?
Things to know
Note: Your AI builds and edits the Draft; publishing and approval stay with you, per Can my AI publish or send an estimate? It also writes contract text, per How do I have my AI write the introduction and contract text?
