Claude desktop uses the same connectors as Claude on the web, so you add Projul once under "Customize" and "Connectors" and it works in both places. If you already connected Claude on the web, Projul is already there when you open the desktop app.
You need the desktop app installed and signed in to the same Claude account you use on the web, plus your Projul AI Connect API key. See How do I get my Projul AI Connect API key?
Add Projul as a connector
If Projul already shows under "Customize" and "Connectors", skip ahead to Connecting. Otherwise:
- Open the desktop app and click "Customize" in the left menu, then "Connectors" at the top, then "Add" in the top right corner.
- In "Name", type Projul. In "Remote MCP server URL", type https://connect.projul.com/mcp exactly as shown, then click "Continue".
- Under "Authentication", choose "None" even if Claude marks "Always required" as "Detected". You are using a key instead of a sign-in.
- Under "Request headers", click "Add header", choose "authorization", and in "Value" type Bearer, a space, then paste your key. Leave "Required" checked, then click "Add".
Note: On a Claude Team or Enterprise plan, only an account owner can add a connector. Once they add Projul, everyone on the plan connects to it with their own key.
These steps match Claude on the web. See How do I connect Claude on the web to Projul? for a fuller walkthrough with pictures of every screen.
Connecting
On the Projul AI Connector page that opens, click "Connect". A message says "Connected to Projul." and lists the tool permissions. Projul is now on for new chats.
Using it
Click "New" and make sure "Chat" is selected next to the message box rather than "Cowork". Then ask a Projul question, for example:
What clients do I have in Projul? Just list their names.
The first time Claude needs a Projul action, it shows a "Needs your input" card naming the action. Click "Allow once" or "Always allow". It is the same card Claude shows on the web.
Things to know
Connectors belong to your account, so removing Projul in the desktop app removes it on the web too, and the other way round.
"Cowork" in the desktop app uses the same connector. See How do I connect Cowork to Projul?
The "Code" tab is Claude Code, which is covered separately. See How do I connect Claude Code to Projul?
