How do I get my Projul AI Connect API key?

You create your Projul AI Connect API key from "Settings". Click your initials in the bottom left corner, click "Settings", choose "Projul AI Connect" from the dropdown, then click "Create API key".

Projul AI Connect is available on the Pro plan. Accounts on a 7-day free trial can use it during the trial.

An API key is a long password your AI tool uses to sign in to Projul on your behalf, created once and pasted into your AI tool once. Only an owner or administrator can create one, and it can see everything in the account.

Creating the key

  1. Click your initials in the bottom left corner, then click "Settings".

  1. Scroll past "Connect usage" to "API keys" and click "Create API key".

  1. Name the key after the tool that will use it, for example "Office assistant" or "Zapier", then choose an access level: "Read" if the AI only views your data, "Read-Write" if it will also create or change things. Not sure which? See Should I give my AI a Read key or a Read-Write key?

  1. Click "Create key", accept the terms the first time you are asked, then enter your Projul password and click "Confirm".

Copying the key

Projul now shows your new key, starting with "prjl_live_". This is the only time it is shown in full, so copy it before closing the window.

  1. Click "Copy key" and paste it somewhere safe, such as your password manager, for use in the next article.
  2. Only then click "I have copied the key".

Managing your key

Your key now appears in the "API keys" list with its name, access level, status, and calls recorded this month, showing only its first and last few characters. Treat it like a password: never paste it into a shared document, a screenshot, or a message to your AI.

No longer need a key, or think someone has it? Click "Revoke", then "Revoke key now (this cannot be undone)". Access ends immediately.

Lost a key before copying it? Click "Rotate" for a fresh one; this turns the old one off. To rename a key or change its access level, click "Edit" instead.
