A Read key lets your AI only look at your Projul data and answer questions about it. A Read-Write key also lets it add, change and delete records, and you choose the "Access level" when you create the key.
What a Read key can do
A Read key covers everything that only looks at data: listing and searching clients, leads, projects, estimates, tasks, messages, files, your team, tags, trades, tax rates and discounts, and answering questions about them.
What is on the schedule this week? What is the total on the [Thompson] estimate? Summarize the messages on the [Rivera] job.
What a Read-Write key adds
A Read-Write key also adds and changes clients, leads and projects, builds and edits estimates and templates, creates and schedules tasks, writes messages, logs calls, texts and site visits, and uploads files. Deleting is included, so it can delete a client and everything under it if you ask.
A Read key does not have these actions: your AI will say it cannot make the change, and if it tries anyway, Projul refuses the request and nothing is written. Create a Read-Write key if you meant to allow it.
Approvals and using more than one key
Projul enforces the access level, not the AI tool. Your AI asks you to approve an action the first time it uses it in a chat; approving is a click, and "Always allow" skips future asks for it. Zapier, Make and n8n do not ask. See the setup article for your tool in "Connect your AI".
You can create a separate key per AI tool, giving a Read key to one that only answers questions and a Read-Write key to the one you use for work. Name each key after its tool so you can tell them apart under "API keys", where each card shows its access level, status and last use.
Changing a key's access level
Go to "Settings", open "Projul AI Connect", find the key under "API keys", click "Edit", choose "Read" or "Read-Write", and click "Save changes". Projul may ask you to confirm your password first.
