General Overview of Assemblies
Navigate to the Estimate page by selecting "Estimates" from the Navigation sidebar.
Open up an existing Estimate by clicking anywhere on the Estimate card or selecting the edit icon in the top right corner of the card.
In the estimate, click the blue "Make assembly" button for whichever section you want to create an assembly for.
Returning to the top of the Estimate section, you will notice that there is now a blank Assembly field displayed. Note that there is a gray box highlighting this field. We will return to the functionality of this gray box later in this article.
To the right of the blank Assembly field is a unit box. Clicking on this will open a menu where you can select the desired unit associated with the Assembly.
Once you have entered the desired Assembly quantity and units which correspond to the section below, a small gray arrow will display. When this arrow is displayed, the Assembly is linked to the section below it.
Additionally, if the section you are applying an Assembly to has a subsection within it, a child Assembly will automatically be generated to that subsection when the parent Assembly is linked to the section. We will return to the child Assembly later in this article, but for the moment just know that it exists and will work intuitively if you choose to only work with the parent Assembly.
Clicking back into the Assembly field when the gray arrow is displayed will bring back the gray box. Note that it extends downward now, displaying which Cost Items the Assembly governs.
Note that when the Assembly field's value is changed, the Cost Items below will change accordingly.
Selecting the edit icon within the Assemblies field (highlighted below) will allow you to reset the value of the Assembly without changing any quantities of the corresponding Cost Items below.
Subsection Assemblies
Recall that child Assemblies which are linked to subsections are automatically generated when a parent Assembly is linked to a section that contains subsections.
Clicking on the child Assembly's blank field will display the gray box in the same way that the parent Assembly had when blank.
Any changes made to the parent Assembly will be transferred over to the child Assembly accordingly.
However, changes made to the child Assembly will only affect the subsection that it is linked with.
Publishing
Once you are finished with your assembly, make sure to publish the estimate in order to finalize the draft. Publishing also allows the client to view the estimate.
To publish, simply scroll down and click the blue “Publish estimate” button:
