In this article, we will go step by step through how pay rates are used in Projul.
You can set default pay rates at the company, employee, project, and task levels. When an employee clocks in to a task, the system looks for the default rate in this order: first the task, then the project (if there is one), then the employee, and finally the company default if nothing else is set.
In order to access the account settings for pay rates:
- Click on your initials in the bottom left corner
- Click on Settings
- Switch from "Notifications" at the top dropdown to "Time Tracking"
- Click on the "Default Pay Rate" button
From here, you will be able to specify a default pay rate. This is the pay rate that will be selected if none has been specified anywhere else.
You can also edit your existing pay rates by clicking the 3-dot button and selecting "Edit" on the pay rate you want to alter.
Once editing, you can change the icon, default rate, name, overtime multiplier (the change in rate if a time log ran into overtime), and whether the rate is active or not (meaning whether anyone in the company can access the pay rate and clock into it).
You can also add entirely new pay rates for your company to utilize.

When editing a specific time log, you can also change the pay rate for that time log.
Pay rates are shown on the Time Log Report located on the Reports page.
In the Time Log Report, you can view all time logs, total time per person, and the calculated cost based on that employee's hourly rate.
Within the Time Log Report, you can select a date window in the top right corner, along with filtering by Project or changing the sort. You can also download the report as a CSV file.
