Location tracking requires the "Worker GPS Location Tracking" setting in Projul to be turned on. Additionally your phone settings must be set to allow Projul to use your location.

Setting up Location Tracking in Projul
Company Settings
- To use location tracking in Projul, first click on your initials in the bottom left corner, and then click on "Settings".
- Next, click on the dropdown at the top of settings, and switch it to "Time Tracking"
- In time tracking settings, toggle "Employee GPS Location" on.
There are 2 tracking options to consider:
- Projul Locate - always track or track only when clocked in
- Location accuracy - low accuracy, medium accuracy, and high accuracy
Employee Location Tracking
Employee location tracking has two options. Select the desired tracking option.
- Always track
- Locate only when clocked in
Location Tracking Accuracy
Location tracking accuracy has three options
- Low accuracy
- Medium accuracy
- High accuracy
Note that high accuracy will drain the user's battery life more quickly then the other two options. Additionally, areas of very poor reception may drain the battery more quickly as well when using location tracking.
Individual User Settings
There is a separate option to change these settings for specific users.
In order to do that, navigate to the "People" page, and click "Edit employee info" for that user. From there you will be able to edit the tracking settings for that specific user.
The color of this employee on the map, would be the same color as shown on their employee info page. The color can be changed in this page as well.
Allow Location Tracking on Your Phone
Once your account has location tracking active, each user must make sure their phone settings are set to allow the Projul app to use their location.
Note: If these settings are not turned on, location tracking services in Projul will not work.
To do that on iPhone:
- Go to settings on your mobile device (phone settings, not settings in Projul)
- Scroll through your apps until you find Projul Mobile
- Select Projul Mobile
- Set "Location" to "Always"
- Toggle the "Motion & Fitness" setting to on (this setting allows various location services on your device such as tracking trips)
To do that on Android:
- Press and hold the Projul app to open the dropdown
- Click "App Info"
- Click Permissions
- Click Location
- Set "Location permission" to "Allow all the time"
- Toggle the "Use precise location" setting to on (this setting allows various location services on your device such as tracking trips)
Location tracking and the Map in Projul
After turning on the location settings, location tracking can be used in the "Map" section of Projul found on the left side bar. The map will display project locations and employees whose locations you are currently tracking.
Location Tracking Statuses
To the right of each employee are two icons. They indicate the phone and tracking settings statuses for each employee.
The icon on the right indicates the phone settings.
- The red phone indicates that the phone settings for that user do not allow Projul to accurately track it. You can click on that icon to see which settings specifically are off.
- The black phone indicates that the user has settings set to "only while using the app". This results in spotty location tracking.
- The green phone indicates that the employee has the correct phone settings for time tracking.
The icon on the left indicates whether or not the user's location is currently available.
- Blue dots connected by lines: Indicates that the user's location is currently available
- Red bubble that is crossed out: Indicates that the user's location is not available fro the date selected
A user's location can be unavailable for a variate of reasons, including if the user does not have internet, the user does not have a mobile device, the user is clocked out, or the user does not have any location data for the date selected (the date viewed can be adjusted in the dropdown list at the top right corner of the screen).
Other Map Features
In addition to viewing your employee's tracking statuses and locations, you can view a variety of other things from the maps page. At the top left you can navigate to the time tracking, time logs, and daily time logs respectively.
By opening the three dot menu on a specific employee you can edit the details of that employees location tracking, as well as check their schedule.
You can also select whether employees or projects or both are visible for clarity of viewing.
Finally you can use the date function to look over the past location of projects and employees, as well as the future location of projects.
