Projul's task types are designed to accomplish various purposes, such as streamlining scheduling by assigning deadlines, managing follow-ups, facilitating estimate meetings, and contributing to overall project tracking and completion.

Overview
There are eight different types of schedule items that are grouped under the general name "tasks." Schedule items can be assigned to a user and placed on the schedule. They can be created from several different places in Projul, including:
- From the task list by pressing "add a new task"
- From the project timeline by selecting the plus button on a time slot
- From the schedule by pressing "add a new task" or by selecting an empty time slot
After clicking to create a task, a sidebar will appear with the option to select the schedule item type. Item types are broadly broken into two different categories: tasks and events.
The different types of tasks are:
- Task
- Deadline
- Follow-Up Reminder
- Estimate Meeting
The different types of events are:
- Event
- Meeting
- Time Off
- Absent
Here's a brief diagram of the differences:
Task Types
Task types are items that are marked overdue if not completed within the scheduled time frame. Task types also contribute to the "percent complete" on the projects page. Photos can be uploaded to all task types and all task types can also be linked to a project.
Task
Tasks are assignments that are scheduled to workers. Tasks have a set duration, and can have steps added to them for employees to follow. If steps are added to a task, the task will automatically be marked complete when all the steps are completed.
Deadline
Deadlines have no set duration. Deadlines indicate a time the item must be completed by, but do not show a start time. Deadlines can have steps added to them. If steps are added to a deadline, the deadline will automatically be marked complete when all the steps are completed.
Follow-up Reminder
Follow-up reminders are scheduled times to follow up with a customer about a project or lead. Follow-up reminders are automatically marked complete once a communication is recorded. Depending on your Projul settings, follow-up reminders cannot be marked complete unless a follow-up is recorded. Unlike the previous task types, follow-up reminders do not have steps.
Estimate Meeting
Estimate meetings are tasks specifically created for estimating potential projects. Once an estimate meeting is completed, a "Write estimate" task is automatically created, and the associated project lead will automatically move along the lead pipeline to the "estimate to write" status. Estimate meetings do not have steps.
Event Types
Event types are items that are not marked overdue if not completed within the scheduled time frame. Furthermore, they do not contribute to the "percent complete" on the projects page. Some event types cannot be linked to projects.
Event
The most generic event type, events function very similarly to how tasks work. Events have a start and end time, and can be assigned to a worker and associated to a project. Events can also have photos linked to them and a pay rate assigned to them.
Meeting
Meetings are used to schedule company gatherings. They can be associated with projects, have a scheduled start and end time, and can be clocked into for time tracking purposes. They can also have a pay rate associated with them.
Time Off
Time off is used to designate approved time off on the schedule. Time off events can have a pay rate associated with them, but cannot be associated with a project or have steps added.
Absent
Used for time tracking, "Absent" marks when an employee missed a time when they should have been present. Absent events can have a pay rate associated with them but cannot be linked to a project.
